The Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit began in 1999 with Sgt. Kelly Schneider and Patrol Service dog “JAKE” . Jake was a black lab who during his service with the Sheriff’s office was credited with helping seize in excess of 3000 pounds of narcotics with a street value of over $8,000,000 dollars. He also assisted in seizing over $1,000,000 dollars in cash and property. Jake died in 2003 and was a real loss to our agency.

IN MEMORY OF JAKE 1999-2003
In 2003 Sgt. Schneider was partnered with Patrol Service Dog “ANDOR” pronounced (ON DOR). Andor was a Black Belgian Malinois who was trained for handler protection and drugs. In 2005 Sgt. Schneider left the agency and a new handler was promoted. Deputy Bill Dollison was given the assignment and was partnered with another Black Lab. Patrol Service Dog “LEX”. Lex is a two year old Black Lab who as only just begun his carreer but in only a year has helped to make numerous seizures and is serving this department in the same fine tradition.
